The Team

We're a team of researchers, psychologists, and computer scientists from Australia (the University of Sydney, the University of New South Wales, Macquarie University, and New South Wales local health districts), the Netherlands (the University of Amsterdam and Utrecht University) and the United States (the University of Virginia) who are working together and using the latest research to build new programs to reduce co-occurring anxiety and alcohol use among youth.

Katrina Prior

Dr Katrina Prior

Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Matilda Centre, the University of Sydney, Australia. Dr Prior is passionate about developing and trialling interventions for co-occurring mental health and substance use programs among young people and adults. Dr Prior is the Chief Investigator and will be leading the development of the Re-Train Your Brain study.

Lexine Stapinski

A/Prof Lexine Stapinski

Associate Professor and Clinical Psychologist at the Matilda Centre, the University of Sydney, Australia. A/Prof Stapinski’s research focusses on understanding how alcohol and substance use disorders develop, and how we can intervene early on to reduce their impact and prevent escalation. A/Prof Stapinski will provide strategic input into the development and evaluation of the program.

Elske Salemink

A/Prof Elske Salemink

Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology at Utrecht University, The Netherlands. A/Prof Salemink is interested in biases in information processing such as attentional and interpretive bias, implicit associations and also the ability and tendency to control such processes (e.g., executive control processes). A/Prof Salemink will provide strategic input into the program development.

Reinout Wiers

Prof Reinout Wiers

Professor of developmental psychopathology at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Prof Wiers leads an internationally recognised program of research evaluating neuro-cognitive processes involved in the development of addictive behaviours and other forms of psychopathology. Prof Wiers will provide strategic input into the program development.
